It all started with a fifties Fiat 500, since then she lives a life of vintage passion: from clothing to hairstyling, furniture and music. So it wasn’t long until Verdiana discovered the Lindy drug during her work as a vintage hairdresser for Radio Modern. Once she got the bounce in her bones, her life changed completely. You can regularly see her popping up at social dances in Belgium and attending international dance camps and workshops, catching the eyes of the innocent bystanders with her Italian style lindy moves. When it comes to swing dancing, for Verdiana it’s all about having fun and moving your body to the music. Musicality is the key for two individuals to become one on the dance floor.
Maarten Van Dijck
Maarten started to dance lindy hop in 2012. He was captivated by the endless possibilities and freedom of the dance as well as by the beauty of swing jazz music. Above all he loved the social dancing in Antwerp and Belgium and the great atmosphere among the lindy hop dancers. He attended different weekly classes and danced at every possible opportunity. Maarten searches for more variation, musicality and fun during the classes at international dance festivals. He is also passionate about learning to dance the blues. Together with the Antwerp Lindy Hoppers he organizes lindy hop parties and swing jazz concerts for all the dancers in Antwerp.
You have understood the fundamentals and are well able to execute them.
You don’t need to be an expert at these fundamentals, but you should be familiar with them.
This course will challenge you with more complex patterns: by mixing the 6 and 8 counts and transforming them into 10, 12, … count variations of a familiar move.
We will dive deeper on technical aspects behind the dance and answer questions like frame, stretch, finding your center, controlling the connection between you and your partner, and the technique behind the moves….
This level will unlock the tools to start improvising with your partner and the rhythm of the music.
You have follow +/- 2 years of weekly classes with Apollo Hop.
You’ve mastered the basic charleston, triple steps, groove walks, kick steps on basic patterns like send-out, tuck-turn, change places, circle, and know the difference between dancing in a 6 and an 8 count.
During this course we will expand your vocabulary with new moves, teach several variations on moves you already know, help you improve the basics, such as the bounce, and work on your technique and connection.
You have follow +/- 5 months of weekly classes with Apollo Hop.
